This auction is for a colorful pair of Art Deco enamel earrings.
The octagonal earring face has a slim, high polished edge. It is the frame for a panel fancy with edge to edge classic Art Deco geometric designs. A good luck "whirling log" design features both thin triangles, long rectangles and unique wedge shapes which have been embossed with fine reeding, zig zags and tiny, tiny beading. These outstanding motifs have been given even further interest and depth by kiln firing them with glass enamels: a glorious minty teal blue green on the outside edges and a rich cobalt blue within the pin wheel center.
The patterns and colors in these earrings are a wonderful reflection of the early Art Deco period, which encompassed both artistic naturalism with simplicity
    and geometry.
We so love these wonderful Deco enamels, they really have become a lost art. Could the person who made them have ever realized that we would still be coveting them all these years later? Perhaps not because these striking earrings faces we're made circa 1920 as one half of pair of double sided cufflinks.  Upcycled to earrings, they hang from antique style ear wires newly made in solid 14k white gold.
The earring faces, typical of enamel cufflinks of the era, were made in copper and finished in white rhodium.  They are a feminine 13.8mm at their widest and hang from antique style, solid 14k ear wires measuring a petite 1 inch long in the ears. They whisper light and comfortable at 2.4 total grams or 1.2 grams each; for reference, a US dime measures a larger 17.9mm in diameter and weighs a heavier 2.3 grams. The overall the earrings are in excellent antique condition; the enamels are in completely intact showing almost no wear to belie their 100 years as cufflinks.
We're professional jewelers and we love vintage jewelry, particularly old cufflinks and clothing buttons. We think it's a shame that these things are left sitting in the back of jewelry chests and sewing boxes. It seems that if no one wears cufflinks, they must be useless...well not any more! With the advent of laser welding, reclaimed treasures can reimagined for a new generation.
After removing the linking chain, we attached the 14k vintage style ear wires and catchers using our laser welder. We always use solid 14k gold for our wires because we wouldn't want anything less; why would you?
We've been listing our one of a kind earrings for fifteen plus years now, making jewelry is the only thing we do. We take a great deal of pride in our work and to show that, we sign our pieces with a tiny "A" within a diamond: for "Ace_of_Diamond". We stand behind every pair we make and our trademark proves it.
What places did the original cuff links visit and where have then been the last 100 some years? We love finding beautiful, neglected things and giving them a new life lease; the world is just filled with over looked treasure waiting to be rediscovered!
All these years after they were made for a sleeve, they are ready for a new generation of discerning gals who want both beautiful and unique.  If these are
    your
earrings, don't hesitate to bid now!
To our long time friends and bidders:
